Board of Leadership in Ministry

The Board of Leadership in Ministry shall be responsible, in partnership with the bishop, for ensuring that pastoral care is provided to -- and that supportive relationships exist for -- pastors, associates in ministry, diaconal ministers, and others engaged in the ministry of the church within this synod. As outlined in the Northeastern Iowa Synod’s constitution (S11.01.03.a.), this Board’s goals are to:

provide for the examination of candidates for rostered ministry by means of a Candidacy Committee, made up of members nominated by the Board of Leadership in Ministry and elected by the Synod Council.
establish guidelines for compensation, coordination of continuing education, and any other matters of concern to, and in support of, those engaged in ministry in this synod.
form whatever subcommittees or other structures it may find necessary or helpful to its work.

To carry out these goals, the Board of Ministry in Mission has formed eight work teams and committees.
