The “Synod Mission Plan” reflects how the Synod is planning to share and expend mission support received by individuals, congregations, and grants. The Synod starts by sharing its financial resources with Lutheran Services in Iowa, Wartburg Theological Seminary, the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago. Lutheran Campus Ministries at the Iowa Regent Universities, Lutheran Colleges & Universities and with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. What remains after sharing with our ministry partners is used for Synodical ministry including, Youth Ministry, Candidacy, Call process, various councils, boards, and networks and the usual expenses of operating a ministry.
Normally, a Mission Plan is presented to the Synod Assembly for approval. However, because of the pandemic there was no 2020 Assembly so the Synod has been operating under the SFY 2021 budget approved by the Synod’s Financial Task Force and the Synod Council. Both the SYF2021 and SYF 2022 budgets will be presented to the Assembly on June 12, 2021.
