Nominations are being accepted to fill the ELCA’s new Commission for a Renewed Lutheran Church (CRLC).
Voting members at the 2022 Churchwide Assembly adopted a memorial concerning restructuring the ELCA’s governance, and in November the Churchwide Council authorized establishment of the CRLC to review the current governance and structure of the ELCA.
The commission will consist of no more than 35 voting members from across the ELCA. Each synod council or executive committee may nominate two people from the synod to be considered for the commission. In addition, at-large members will be chosen from among all the names received, both from synod nominations and from the open nomination process.
Anyone from the Northeastern Iowa Synod who would like to be considered for the commission or who would like to nominate someone else may send their name, brief resume and a paragraph telling why they want to serve on the commission to Alison Pettit at the Northeastern Iowa Synod by Feb. 19, 2023.
Open nominations for those wanting to be considered for an at-large position must be submitted online by March 9.
