The Northeastern Iowa Synod Fall Theological Conference is set for Oct. 15 -17 at the Bien Venu/Holiday Inn in Cedar Falls with the theme, “Lead by Listening” based on James 1:19.
Let everyone be quick to listen,
slow to speak, slow to anger.
― James 1:19
The conference will include worship services, devotions, time with the Bishop, and learning sessions about intentional listening presented by Deacon Jessica Noonan.
All rostered ministers actively serving in the Northeastern Iowa Synod are invited to attend, as well as seminary interns; CL, TEEM, and SAM students serving in the synod; and retired rostered ministers serving as interims or contracted supply.

LEAD BY LISTENING
Noonan will lead two sessions focusing on the “Lead by Listening” theme, which will explore ways to develop a theology, practice and culture of intentionally listening to God, one another and our neighbors.
Noonan is associate director of LEAD Ministry, a nonprofit organization that works with rostered ministers and congregations to develop leadership and connect congregations to their neighborhoods. She believes that by regularly engaging in the practices of listening and storytelling, faith leaders can be more deeply connected with God and with their neighbors, helping to break down the walls that separate people from one another.
