Cedar Valley Trail Head, Solon
Bishop Kevin Jones invites anyone interested to join him and Bishop Amy Current for a training ride on the Cedar Valley Trail and Hoover Nature Trail to prepare for the Iowa Bishops Ride Against Hunger in RAGBRAI in July.
Riders can join the full 50-mile round trip from Solon to Cedar Rapids and back, or they can catch up at various spots along the trail for part of the ride:
50-MILE RIDE: Cedar Valley Trail Solon to/from St. Andrews Lutheran, Cedar Rapids
Meet at 8:30 a.m. in Solon at the trail head near the baseball diamonds and splash pad. Arrive about 9:30 a.m. in Ely.
30-MILE RIDE: Cedar Valley Trail Ely to /from St. Andrews Lutheran
Meet at 9:30 a.m. in Ely. Arrive about 10:30 a.m. at Czech Village, Cedar Rapids
10-MILE RIDE: Czech Village entrance to/from St. Andrews Lutheran
Meet at 10:30 a.m. at Czech Village. Arrive about 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Lutheran Church
St. Andrews will open their doors for bathrooms. Water and protein bars will be available. Riders could have a brief tour of garden and hear about ministry and then head back to Czech Village, Ely, and Solon. Folks may bring their lunches or there are spots in Cedar Rapids along the trail to purchase food and beverages.
