When two or more congregations share a pastor one of the many details that needs to be worked out is “Where to hold confirmation classes?”
Usually, the solution is to alternate between churches but this can mean driving some distance for some families.
Pastor Lance Kittleson of St. Peter, Toeterville, and Deer Creek, Carpenter decided on a different location.
Good Samaritan Society Care Facility in St. Ansgar was located in a convenient place for students of both congregations.
When Pastor Kittleson requested a room to meet, Good Samaritan was happy to welcome the confirmation class.

Now for the second year, confirmation students get off the bus from school every afternoon. They have snacks, review their catechism and then are dismissed to go and visit the residents.
During their visit, the students ask the residents what they can pray for them. When they come back to class they pray for the people they visited with.

The students are all very enthusiastic about meeting at Good Samaritan.
“We really like going to visit the elderly and praying for them”

The residents they visit are just as happy with the visits. “They are such good kids and I appreciate the prayers!” observes one of the ladies they visited.
