The Northeastern Iowa Synod, ELCA is one of 65 synods in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and is made up of 61,667 baptized Lutherans walking together to strengthen the witness and service of the whole church to make Christ known.
The 145 congregations and two synodically authorized worshiping communities of this synod are centers for evangelical mission, where people of faith celebrate, learn and connect with one another and others around the world through service and weekly worship.
Leaders and congregations of the Northeastern Iowa Synod network in mission, service and educational opportunities. Synod ministries help congregations find qualified pastors, encourage and support pastors in their ministries, and offer resources to help families and congregations pass on the faith to the next generation.
As part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, congregations of this synod reach out beyond Northeastern Iowa to respond to disasters, support hunger relief, and share ministries with our companions abroad.
In addition, one ELCA seminary and two ELCA-affiliated colleges are located within the Northeastern Iowa Synod, as well as two outdoor Bible camp ministries and a campus ministry.
