More than 300 people are registered to attend the 2022 Northeastern Iowa Synod Assembly June 10-11 at Wartburg College, Waverly. This year’s theme “Better Together,” is based on 1 Corinthians 12:12-13.
The two-day Assembly will start Friday at 7 p.m. with Bishop Kevin Jones preaching for the opening worship service, followed by orientation and social time.
Saturday’s activities begin at 8:30 a.m. with morning prayer, followed by the first plenary session at 9 a.m. Other activities include workshops, ministry exhibits, lunch and closing worship.
The Rev. Robin Brown, director of Congregational Generosity for the ELCA, will attend as the churchwide representative and will preach for the closing worship service on Saturday.
The Assembly worship services and plenary sessions will be streamed live at the following times:
Friday, June 10
7-8 p.m. – Worship Service with Bishop Kevin jones preaching
Saturday, June 11
8:30-10:30 a.m. – Morning Prayer and Plenary Session I
2:45-5:15 p.m. – Plenary Session II and Closing Worship with the Rev. Robin Brown preaching and jazz music led by Jon Ailabouni.
Workshops & Ministry Exhibits
A variety of workshops and ministry exhibits will be offered on Saturday, with workshop topics ranging from jazz and faith to sabbaticals and smart giving.

A truck will be parked in front of Neumann Auditorium to collect “Welcome Kits” for Lutheran Services in Iowa to support refugee families resettling in Iowa.

This year’s synod offering will be designated for the H. George Anderson Northeastern Iowa Synod Fund for Leaders to sprovide scholarships for seminary students from the Northeastern Iowa Synod and Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service to support newly arrived refugees in America.
