Congregation members are invited to join an online workshop about “Worship Planning for Lay Leaders” on Thursday, Jan. 15, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
This free, interactive workshop is designed to equip lay members with resources and best practices for planning and leading worship in their congregations. Participants will learn about how worship is grounded in the historic structure of the Sunday liturgy, while allowing for creativity. The workshop will include conversation about ways to lead worship with or without instrumental accompaniment, as well as time for Q&A.
Pastor Luther Thoreson will lead the session and will introduce a wide variety of music and worship resources. Pastor Thoreson retired in 2020 after 39 years as a congregational pastor. Along the way he completed the Leadership Program for Musicians while serving in the Western Iowa Synod, and he then served as faculty for the program.
